The Story of F Hive
Litter F Story
10.24 We welcomed our FW F-litter baby, the long-awaited combination of Guoguo and Dongdong. However, this birth process far exceeded my expectations.
At the second prenatal checkup, we estimated there would be 7 kittens, and that turned out to be accurate. Because there were many kittens and they were generally small, the first six arrived faster than expected. Except for the fifth kitten, who was weak, all the others were in good condition. We thought the seventh would follow the same smooth path, but unfortunately, it didn't happen that way.
After waiting more than 3 hours with no signs of labor, we took Guoguo to the hospital. After the examination, the doctor informed us that the baby hadn't entered the birth canal yet and prescribed oxytocin; we were advised to return home and monitor.
After a long labor, our seventh kitten was born. Like the fifth, she was underdeveloped and had no chance of survival from birth. We experienced our first kitten loss since the cattery opened.
It was a double tragedy: our fifth child was born without breathing. Although resuscitation efforts allowed the baby to feed, we could not save him the next day due to severe congenital malformation and intrauterine rupture of membranes causing respiratory distress.
It's heartbreaking, as this is our first experience with loss. Fortunately, Guoguo remained calm and stable throughout the entire process. The prolonged labor didn't cause her much pain or discomfort. She seems unaware that she has lost two of her babies, yet she continues to care for her remaining pups with dedication and emotional stability...
We've decided to stick with the "Chai Mi You Yan Jiang Cu Cha" (Tea, Rice, Oil, Salt, Sauce, Vinegar, Tea) series for our cats' names. We're keeping spots reserved for No. 5 and No. 7. We believe that by carrying their names forward, they won't be wandering spirits; in their next life, they'll surely be healthy, strong little kittens! ❤️ We hope that whenever you hear the names of the others, you'll remember this was once a litter of seven precious babies.
